Famous Archaeological Sites
Thailand Post Co., Ltd. has been issuing new stamp collection for Thai Heritage Conservation Day every year since 1988. In the recent years, 8 out of 10 of Thailand's historical parks, which have been registered as the World Heritage Sites, have been used as images for the stamp collections. Therefore, in 2012, the remaining two historical parks including Sithep Historical Park and Muang Singh Historical Park will be used as images in the Thai Heritage Conservation Day Stamp Collection.
Muang Singh Historical Park, Kanchanaburi is located on the northern bank of Kwai Noi River, Singh sub-district, Sai Yok district. The park is surrounded by mountain ranges and consisted of rectangular layout. There are ditches and ridges encircling the park. The park has six pools. Muang Singh Historical Park was officially opened on April 3, 1987 by H.R.H. Princess Maha Chakri Sirindhorn who presided over the opening ceremony.
Si Thep Historical Park, Phetchabun is a park covering Sithep historical sites and has won two Thailand Tourism Awards for the year 2000 under Excellent Cultural Historical Site and Best Internet Media Public Relations.
