Decorating Utensils with Exquisite Designs

The creation of nieloware involved engraving designs on to gold or silver utensils to make the designs stand out. The process starts with appling a black liquid solution on to the lines being engraved. The solution is a mixture of Mekpud and silver of of lead, copper and silver, which have been melted and blended together.
The process of creating neiloware consists of seven stages; namely, preparing the liquid solution, creating the utensils, drawing and engraving the designs on the surface of utensild, applying the liquid solution to the engraved designs and heating the designs in order to dry the liquid solution and ensure that it is firmly fixed, polishing the designs to make them stand out, applying the finishing touches to the utensils and the designs and the finally polishing and cleaning the finished articles.
The pictures of the neiloware on these postage stamps are the winners of the competition during the 2007 International Letter Writing Week. The title of the set is a Golden Neiloware Set and it consists of a kettle with the lid decorated with the Bai Thet leaf design, a jug with the lid decorated with the Bai Thet leaf design, a water bowl on a tiered salver with the ladle decorated with the Bai Thet leaf design and a lotus-patalled dish-cover decorated with the Thwpanom angel design.
