Mahaphrom Rachini is a newly discovered world plant species (cananga odorata (Lamk.) Hook, f.et.Th) found at the peak of mountain in the Mae Surin Waterfall National Park, Mae Hong Son Province. The ecological conditions are mountains, with steep cliffs and thick foresta all around, giving rise to strong winds and extremely cold weather in winter. It's a rare species of plant found only in Thailand and difficult to reproduce. This new species was officially named after Her Majesty Queen Sirikit of Thailand as "Mitrephora Sirikitiae Weerasooriya, Chalermglin & R.M.K. Saunders".
The plant is about 4-6 meters tall, with simple, or 1-3 inflorescence flowers on almost every branch. In full bloom, its diameter is about 10 centimeters. Each flower features 2 tiers of 3 oval petals. The petal base is light green and its tip is purple and bent, so that it resembles a basket. The flower, with a light fragrance, blossoms for 3-5 days, especially in May.
