King of the People
His Majesty King Bhumibol Adulyadej is considered to be central to the lives of all Thais. He was hospitalized from October 13th to November 7th, 2007. During those 25 days of hospitalization, more than 1.1 million people and representatives from foreign nations visited him and expressed their wishes for his speedy recovery in the guest books.
When His Majesty left Siriraj Hospital, he appeared in a pink shirt and blazer, riding in an electric wheel chair. He looked happy, smiled and, from time to time, waved to the people who had come to greet him along the way to the palace. This picture will be cherished in the minds of his people for a long time.
