The Philatelists Association of Thailand (P.A.T.) under the royal patronage of H.R.H. Princess Maha Chakri Sirindhorn was originated by the group of enthusiastic stamp collectors who together with some senior officials of the Post and Telegraph Department (subsequently changed to CAT Telecom Co. Ltd. and Thailand Post Co. Ltd. respectively) officially founded and registered the Association. P.A.T. called the first meeting of stamp collectors and interested persons on 9 August 1975 to elect an ad-hoc executive committee as required by the Associationis regulations. For this reason, 9 August of each year was designated as the Association's establishment day.
It is the Philatelists Association of Thailand's main mission to become a center for the dissemination of philatelic knowledge, concepts and information for interested persons in Thailand and overseas. On the auspicious occasion that H.R.H. Princess Maha Chakri Sirindhorn graciously accepted P.A.T. under her royal patronage, a special stamp collection was issued in its commemoration.
