Phra Chao Boromwongthoe Krom Muen Mahirajhruetai, the Father of the Thai Bank, launched a commercial bank project by the name of the "Book Club". After that, on January 30,1906, H.M. King Chulalongkorn had the first Thai bank established in the country and named it "Siam Commercial Bank Company".
When the name of the country was changed from Siam to Thailand, the Thai name of the bank was changed, on January 27, 1939, to correspond with the name of the country to "Thai Panich Bank". Its major shareholders are the Crown Property Bureau and the Ministry of Finance. Since then, other local commercial banks have been established in the same fasion. Now, the main headquarters of the Siam Commercial Bank Public Company is located on Ratchadaphisek road, close to the Ratchayothin Intersection. The office is a modern building equipped with high technology.
